It’s 2070 and our post-apocalyptic world is different. Aliens secretly invaded with a lethal biological weapon. A terrifying virus annihilated almost every living creature in its path. People still believe it was a natural virus, oblivious to aliens and the truth. Humanity’s survival is in the hands of the alliance, a team of humans and aliens who stand against the evil arch-enemy alien leader. Orphaned children are raised in army-style schools. But from this barren wasteland, a few shall rise…
Tammy and Mikie are half human and half alien siblings, with immense metaphysical powers and a crystal weapon. Their powers are extraordinary alone, but together they are unstoppable. At twelve, these two are already too powerful to ignore. Can Mikie overcome his inner conflict? Will his compulsion to protect put those closest to him in even more danger? Can Tammy rise above her animal instincts and maintain her humanity? This adventure will take them across the world and maybe into the stars beyond. They must reunite their family and decide where their loyalties lie. The seekers are coming…

I read this book all in one go over a rainy weekend. I could not put it down. Once I had finished it, I let my son start it and he was hooked. I’m looking forward to getting some free time to read the sequels.

A friend recommended and this is my first experience in reading a dystopian novel. I was drawn in from the start and couldn’t wait to read what happened next. This first book introduces the 4 Children of Pisces.
Tammy and Mikie are curious looking children with extraordinary powers that become more effective when they are together. You become aware there are two more towards the end of the book which leaves you wanting more. Book 2 awaits.
Classed as YA book (I am much older than that!) I have now recommended to a friend who is a teacher. It is fast paced, imaginative and written very well. I can visualise the characters and adventures laid out and have thoroughly enjoyed it.

My daughter read this book and literally couldn’t put it down! In her words “this is better than Harry Potter’!
As a fan of reading fantasy based stories she really enjoyed this story line.
She reads before bed and each night she’d race in to tell us what was happening and how exciting it was!! She would even pick it up in the mornings if she woke early (which was a first)!
She loved the characters and immediately took a shining to Tammy. It’s inspired her creative side so much, it’s been a pleasure to see such a positive impact this book has had on her. Highly recommend 🙂

This book was unexpected surprise, given to me by a friend to read I was at first reluctant being the genre is one I don’t read at all even though the book blurb was very good I was worried I wouldn’t enjoy it.
After chapter one I could see very well that the author not only had poured so much soil into this book and was well written she had lured me into actually enjoying it. I was still apprehensive as this was only the beginning and the sci-go aspect hadn’t really become established. Slowly as I progressed through the book which followed me around the house, to work, school run and even along to a hen do I realised I actually not only enjoying this book I love this book and didn’t want to put it down.
I would highly recommend this book to everyone and can’t wait now I’ve read the first book to start the second.

I really enjoyed this YA dystopian first book in series. I was happily getting to know the characters and the story was ambling along nicely, then about three quarters of the way in it really ramped up in intensity. It levelled up the book to a five star read for me. The gifts of Tammy and Mikie develop into something quite extraordinary and the evil they end up having to fight is frightening! A great first book in a very promising series!

I love dystopian novels and this one held my attention as I followed the story of two characters who seemingly were unconnected as they navigated their way through a dystopian school setting. Great read!

I really enjoyed the two characters Mikie and Tammy, both living different lives but are connected. She has had a tough upbringing whilst Mikie can read peoples minds. In a world that the humanitarian side we all should be showing you learn from this book also it is something we all need. Teenagers will love this YA story, the author has created a very unique world that could go on and on. I bought this book wanting action and adventure and by sure I got. Highly recommended.

I reviewed this book with students aged 12-15.
The front cover was well received and the students felt it was attractive and eye catching.
The students unanimously felt that the book was intriguing from the outset. The students all immediately started asking questions and wanting to know what what was going to happen next. They were quickly engaged with the story.
One pupil has stated that they wouldn’t normally choose this genre of book however was surprised by how engrossed they became in the story.
Tammy was the favourite character. They emphasised with her orphanage upbringing and liked the way she dealt with things and the way she interacted with other characters. Each pupil felt she was relatable.
The students felt the author had respect and understanding for the intended reader.
They felt overall that the book was an easy read with a good level of detail especially for their age group. One student who admitted they hadn’t read a fiction book in a long time said, ‘the book has a good level of description, it kept me interested but didn’t overwhelm me.’
They ALL said they would recommend the book.

This is like the shadow sky trilogy because Tammy and Agatha speak to animals. I normally prefer fantasy and have never read a sci-fi before but really loved this and read it in 2 days! I couldn’t put it down.
The story is creative and had good pacing because it kept me interested. I loved Mikie because he always put people first even if he shouldn’t. I thought Tammy was weak at first, because she had a horrible life at the orphanage, but the animals made her cooler when she was at the island. I love how she gets more fierce as the story unravels.
